RALEIGH, NC -- Software company rPath said that it has received $10 million in series C investment from a syndicate of venture capital firms.

rPath provides Linux-based platforms for maintaining software appliances.  The platforms allow developers to change their business to providing complete solutions instead of individual applications.

General Catalyst Partners, North Bridge Venture Partner and the Wakefield Group made the investment.  The company said it would use the proceeds to "increase its leadership in enabling cloud computing."
